BACKGROUND

In Summer 2021, AARP named the City of Dallas as a grantee in their fifth annual Community Challenge Grant Award. The Department of Transportation submitted the grant application for pedestrian and signal improvements at the intersection of Elam Road and North Jim Miller Road to provide safe connectivity to people of all ages and abilities accessing school from the multifamily residences on the east side of Jim Miller Road as well as access for residents who live on Elam Road west of the intersection to churches located on the east side of Jim Miller Road.

The proposed scope of work for this project is to upgrade the traffic signal and associated crosswalks through the installation of radar equipment, an upgraded controller, and refreshed pavement markings.
