BACKGROUND

 

This action will authorize the rejection of the bids received for the 2021 Sidewalk and Barrier Free Ramp Improvements at Various Locations Contract due to the unbalanced value of several bid items (See North Central Texas Council of Governments 4th Edition, item 102.12. Disqualification of Bidders). Ragle, Inc., submitted the lowest bid on Friday, September 3, 2021 in the amount of $4,954,266.75 and several bid items were 30-50 percent higher than the original estimates. The Sidewalk Program will re-advertise for new bids and anticipates bringing the construction contract to Council for approval consideration at the February 23, 2022 Council Meeting.

 

This project was publicly advertised for three consecutive weeks on August 11, 2021, August 18, 2021, and August 25, 2021 for the 2021 Sidewalk and Barrier Free Ramp Improvements at Various Locations Contract that includes water and wastewater adjustments at various locations throughout the City. Four sealed bids were received and opened on Friday, September 3, 2021.
