BACKGROUND

Engineering studies have been conducted at the locations identified in the ordinance amending Chapter 28 "Motor Vehicles and Traffic," and it is recommended that the appropriate sections of the ordinance be amended to reflect changes in speed limits and school zone locations. The amended ordinance shows the affected areas as they pertain to speed limits and school speed limit zones.

This ordinance covers both new school zones and changes in existing zones. New school zones are studied based on requests from the Dallas Police Department, school principals, concerned citizens and other stakeholders. After an engineering study is completed, a school zone is established if it meets all the necessary criteria.

The below changes identify the additions and deletions, specifically to Section 28-50(c):
