BACKGROUND

Department of Code Compliance-Consumer Health Division staff has been working with the Better Block Mobile Food Vending Task Force as well as other Community Partners to revise the City of Dallas Mobile Food vending regulations. On March 29, 2022, the Quality of Life, Arts, and Culture Committee approved sending the recommendations to the full City Council.  The recommendations included changing the unit name from mobile food preparation vehicle to mobile food units, allowing preparation of an expanded list of foods on certain mobile food units, reduced commissary visit for units that meet criteria, and clarifying the definition of a mobile food unit and the permit types. There is no financial impact to the City of Dallas.
