BACKGROUND

Since 2007, the City of Dallas and the Tarrant Regional Water District (TRWD) have partnered on the development and construction of an integrated raw water transmission pipeline system that is required to meet future water needs in North Texas. The Integrated Pipeline (IPL) Project will bring water from Lake Palestine, Richland-Chambers Reservoir, and Cedar Creek Reservoir to Dallas and TRWD in a more reliable and cost-efficient manner. The approximately 150-mile long raw water transmission pipeline from Lake Palestine to Lake Benbrook ranges in diameter from 84-inch to 120-inches and will convey raw water with a planned peak capacity of 347 million gallons per day (MGD). Dallas' portion of the shared pipeline capacity is a planned 150 MGD. Included within the IPL Project is a delivery point near Joe Pool Lake constructed for Dallas' use.

On September 26, 2018, City Council authorized a professional services contract with HDR Engineering, Inc. to evaluate alignment alternatives and conveyance methods to deliver 150 MGD to the Bachman Water Treatment Plant.
