BACKGROUND

The National League of Cities (NLC) serves as a resource and advocate for the nation's cities and their leaders. NLC serves the interests of 19,000 cities, towns and villages in the United States (U.S.) as well as professionals working in municipal government. NLC focuses on advocating cities' positions with Federal lawmakers in Washington, D.C. NLC holds two annual conferences - one in the fall in a different U.S. city, and one in the spring in Washington, D.C. Additional meetings and events are held as directed by the League's leadership.

The Texas Municipal League (TML) coordinates and advocates for a legislative program set by member cities at the state and federal level. TML has attorneys on staff to answer general legal questions about municipal law, monitor federal and state laws and regulations, as well as city-related developments in the courts. TML offers training opportunities through an annual conference, workshops and webinars. TML provides resources and experts to assist members with seizing opportunities or creatively solving problems.
