BACKGROUND

This item authorizes an amendment to an existing lease agreement with the United States of America General Services Administration to extend the lease agreement for an additional five-years for approximately 3,043 square feet of land located at 211 South Houston Street to be used as an outdoor playground.

The United States of America General Services Administration ("Government") provides and maintains the adjacent day care facility located at 207 South Houston Street. The day care facility is operated by the private sector and is sponsored by the Government. The day care is required to and provides fifty percent of its services to federal employees with the remaining recipients being City and County employees. Day care services are available to the public as long as the fifty percent ratio is met.

The five-year extension will begin on April 1, 2022 through March 31, 2027.

PRIOR ACTION/REVIEW (COUNCIL, BOARDS, COMMISSIONS)

On September 27, 1989, City Council authorized a six-year Lease Agreement by Resolution No. 89-3056.

On March 22, 1995, City Council authorized an eighty four-month Supplemental Lease Agreement by Resolution No. 95-1104.
