BACKGROUND

 

This action will authorize Change Order No. 1 to the construction services contract with Tiseo Paving Company for additional work on Dolphin Road from Spring Avenue to north of Haskell Avenue/Military Parkway. Change Order No. 1 will increase the contract amount by $132,623.75, from $6,800,664.75 to $6,933,288.50 and add a total of 90 calendar days to the contract time.

 

The additional scope of work includes sidewalk modifications at two areas near the north and south access gates of an existing Senior Living facility located at 4645 Dolphin Road to accommodate accessibility American Disabilities Act requirements onto the relocated public sidewalk. This requires additional excavation and concrete work for retaining walls and wheelchair access landings necessary to accommodate the proposed grade changes along these areas. It will also include relocation of the existing south private access gate, partial installation of private walkway where the gate is being relocated to, one tree removal, and a city permit for the work being performed at this area. The additional scope of work will also include adjustments required for existing utility access which consists of reconstructing two existing water boxes to accommodate the proposed sidewalk slope conditions at an area located near 3114 South Haskell Avenue.

 

Tiseo Paving Company is a registered vendor with the City of Dallas.

PRIOR ACTION/REVIEW (COUNCIL, BOARDS, COMMISSIONS)

 

On May 27, 2015, City Council authorized the termination of the existing Interlocal Agreement with TxDOT for the Dolphin Road (Hatcher Street) Project from Spring Avenue to north of Haskell Avenue previously approved on January 8, 1997 and authorized a Local Transportation Project Advance Funding Agreement between the City of Dallas and TxDOT for the design and construction of paving improvements to the Dolphin Road (Hatcher Street) from Spring Avenue to north of Haskell Avenue Project by Resolution No. 15-0965.

 

On August 8, 2018, City Council authorized an additional payment to TxDOT for the City's share of estimated direct state costs for the construction oversight of the Dolphin Road (Hatcher Street) Project from Spring Avenue to north of Haskell Avenue, in the amount of $138,000.00, by Resolution No. 18-1029.

 

On April 13, 2019, City Council authorized the construction services contract with Tiseo Paving Company by Resolution No. 20-1521.
