BACKGROUND

This item authorizes the second step of acquisition for condemnation by eminent domain to acquire approximately 15,065 square feet of land located near the intersection of Scottsdale Drive and Carr Street from Nancy Ruth Lander and John B. Reece for the Dallas Water Utilities Distribution Division Scottsdale Drive Project. The property owners are deceased, and the City has not been able to locate any surviving heirs.

The first resolution approved on October 12, 2022, by Resolution No. 22-1530, authorized the purchase in the amount of $78,500.00. This property will be used for the operations, fleet parking, and storage for equipment and supplies that assist the Dallas Water Utilities Distribution Division in maintenance of major water distribution lines from the water treatment plants and servicing all City of Dallas customers and to customer cities.

PRIOR ACTION/REVIEW (COUNCIL, BOARDS, COMMISSIONS)

On October 12, 2022, City Council authorized acquisition from Nancy Ruth Lander and John B. Reece, of approximately 15,065 square feet of land located near the intersection of Scottsdale Drive and Carr Street for the Dallas Water Utilities Distribution Division Scottsdale Drive Project by Resolution No. 22-1530.
