BACKGROUND

The City of Dallas experienced historic rainfall, primarily during the overnight hours of August 21 and August 22, and broke the 1932 record to become the 2nd highest daily rain total. Some areas in the city experienced over 15 inches of rain. This action will allocate funding from General Fund contingency to repair City facilities damaged during the flooding event on August 21 and August 22. Uninsured damages will be prioritized and funded by the annual allocation of major maintenance funding. This initial estimate of $6,810,500 includes the City's insurance deductible of $750,000. Damage assessments of the Dallas Museum of Art are ongoing, and staff may request additional funding from General Fund contingency to fund additional insured repairs in the future.
