Title
Authorize a construction services contract for the installation of water and wastewater mains at 21 locations (list attached to the Agenda Information Sheet) - Muniz Construction, Inc., lowest responsible bidder of four - Not to exceed $12,711,348.00 - Financing: Water (Drinking Water) - TWDB 2022 Fund ($9,939,813.00) and Wastewater (Clean Water) - 2022 TWDB Fund ($2,771,535.00)

Body
BACKGROUND

The project consists of the installation of approximately 31,460 feet of water and wastewater mains. This includes the installation of 710 feet of 6-inch, 16,680 feet of 8-inch, 10 feet of 10-inch, 3,750 feet of 12-inch, and 70 feet of 16-inch diameter water mains. In addition, the project also includes approximately 120 feet of 6-inch, 8,890 feet of 8-inch, and 1,230 feet of 10-inch diameter wastewater mains.

The existing water and wastewater mains were built between 1921 and 1969. The existing mains are contributing to an increase in maintenance costs as well as service interruptions. The existing wastewater mains also contribute to inflow and infiltration into the wastewater collection system, resulting in wastewater overflows and high maintenance costs. The proposed installations will improve the capacity of the water and wastewater systems, reduce maintenance costs, and improve water quality.
