BACKGROUND

The purchase of automated chest compression systems will provide high-quality and consistent chest compressions in emergency situations including patient movement, transportation, and during prolonged CPR. This automated CPR device will be used to perform life-saving chest compressions during transport of patients while Fire-Rescue Department (DFD) personnel remain safely seated. These systems are carried on all dispatched Emergency Medical Service Field Supervisor vehicles driven by Command Staff. This device reduce fatigue in DFD personnel by eliminating prolonged resuscitation attempts and switching personnel.

DFD can maximize its ability to respond to COVID-19 public health and safety needs with the purchase of automated chest compression systems. DFD is utilizing Covid-19 funds to enhance the efficient and effective response to emergency services in diverse and equitable manner.

The National Association of State Procurement Officials cooperative agreement is authorized by Chapter 791 of the Texas Government Code and Subchapter F, Chapter 271, Texas Local Government Code. Section 271.102 of the Texas Local Government Code which authorizes a local government to participate in a Cooperative Purchasing Program with another local government or a local cooperative organization.
