BACKGROUND

The National Park Service administers the Outdoor Recreation Legacy Partnerships (ORLP) Grant Program in partnership with designated lead agencies in each of the 50 states. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) is the partner agency for this grant program in the State of Texas, whose deadline is March 15, 2024. The ORLP Program seeks projects that will provide outdoor recreation opportunities to the public through the acquisition of lands and waters for parks and other outdoor recreation areas, as well as through the development of new (or the renovation of existing) outdoor recreation facilities.

The Dallas Park & Recreation Department is proposing to apply for grant funding through the ORLP Grant Program to develop the Community Park at Fair Park Phase Two of The Community Park at Fair Park. This park is being developed as an 18-acre park within the boundaries of Fair Park in South Dallas. This long-awaited park will replace the former parking lot abutting Fitzhugh Avenue, Exposition Avenue, Pennsylvania Avenue, and Lagow Street.
