Authorize the adoption of the 2024 Water Conservation Plan for the City of Dallas - Financing: No cost consideration to the City

BACKGROUND

 

This item will adopt the 2024 Water Conservation Plan for the City of Dallas which is required by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) to be updated every five years. The updated proposed plan meets the mandated requirements including specific and quantified five and ten-year targets for water savings. The Water Conservation Plan sets forth a program with long-term measures by which the City of Dallas can improve efficiency of water use and conserve its water resources. The plan requires City Council adoption prior to final submission to the TCEQ.

 

PRIOR ACTION/REVIEW (COUNCIL, BOARDS, COMMISSIONS)

 

The Parks, Trails, and the Environment Committee was briefed on the “Drafts of 2024 Five-Year Conservation Work Plan & 2024 Water Conservation Plan (State Required)” on March 4, 2024.

 

The Environmental Commission was briefed on the “Drafts of 2024 Five-Year Water Conservation Work Plan & 2024 Water Conservation Plan (State Required)” on March 6, 2024.
