BACKGROUND

The 2022 Community Challenge Grant from AARP, a social welfare organization, located at 601 East Street, NW, Washington D.C. 20049, was awarded to the City of Dallas, located at 1500 Marilla Street, Dallas, TX 75201. The City of Dallas will use the grant funds to improve the local West Dallas community with a focus on the needs of Residents 50 and older by increasing ways older adults and all residents safely move around the community. The City of Dallas will enhance the West Dallas Multipurpose Center, located at 2828 Fish Trap Road, Dallas, Texas 75212, by installing benches and playground signage, enhancing the perimeter of the campus, and increasing usage of the multigeneration activities at the West Dallas Multipurpose Center.

The City of Dallas has focused on equity-building and data-driven strategic plans to better serve its diverse population and make the community more livable. In 2018 the Resilience Dallas Strategy was established to lead the City's economic and social resiliency.
