BACKGROUND

Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) is requesting that the Owner Cities of Dallas and Fort Worth approve amendments to DFW's Code of Rules and Regulations, which are detailed below. These three amendments, while not related to each other, will support DFW Airport's goal of maintaining a safe and secure environment. The 1968 Contract and Agreement between the Cities of Dallas and Fort Worth require that any amendments to the DFW Airport Code of Rules and Regulations be approved by both Owner Cities.

Construction and Fire Prevention Standards

DFW is requesting approval of amendments to the Construction and Fire Prevention Standards to adopt the State Adopted Electrical Code and certain 2021 series model codes published by the International Code Council, Inc. The model codes set minimum requirements for building design, construction, and operations to protect public health, safety, and the natural resources that sustain the Airport. The International Codes are developed with several goals in mind: to safeguard public health, safety and welfare, and to provide for the safety of firefighters and emergency responders. The Airport Board approved this amendment at its June 2, 2022, meeting.
