body
BACKGROUND

The Alta Mesa Pump Station, located at 6540 Teague Drive, Dallas, Texas was originally constructed in 2007 to pump water into the Cedardale Pressure Zone from a 72-inch water transmission main supplied by Lake June Pump Station. Alta Mesa Pump Station works in conjunction with an existing 0.5-million-gallon elevated tank to provide adequate water supply to the Cedardale Pressure Zone. During emergency power outages, the Alta Mesa Pump Station can go out of service, dropping the pressures in some parts of the Cedardale High Pressure Zone significantly below the minimum Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) criteria of 35 psi. In the case of such emergencies, Dallas Water Utilities (DWU) manually opens valves from adjacent pressure zones to provide water to the Cedardale Pressure Zone until power is restored. Power to the Alta Mesa Pump Station is currently provided by Oncor Electric Delivery Company LLC (Oncor) with a single power feed.

This action approves a Facilities Extension Agreement (FEA) with Oncor for a total not to exceed amount of $1,024,434.27. The FEA authorizes Oncor to perform all work required to extend standard Delivery System facilities necessary to provide a secondary power feed to the Alta Mesa Pump Station. Upon execution of the FEA and receipt of payment, Oncor will design and construct the required improvements including the extension of one 13.2KV circuit and installation of a two-way feed pad mounted equipment.
