Body
BACKGROUND

The Abrams Road and Esperanza Road traffic corridor studies will evaluate traffic safety, traffic operations, and pedestrian accessibility along Abrams Road from Northwest Highway to Richmond Avenue and Esperanza Road from Spring Valley Road to North Central Expressway Southbound Service Road (U.S. Highway 75).

Abrams Road and Esperanza Road have a disproportionately high rate of vehicle crashes. To have the greatest impact on reaching the City's Vision Zero goal of eliminating traffic fatalities and reducing severe injuries, these streets should be prioritized in Vision Zero efforts. Conducting engineering safety evaluations for these corridors aligns with the federal "Safe System Approach" as noted in the City's Vision Zero Action Plan and is a crucial step to advancing the City's Vision Zero goal.

Key elements of the scope of work include collection and analysis of traffic operations data; public engagement; evaluation of current pedestrian conditions; development of volume projections; and recommendation of potential traffic calming and pedestrian facility improvements to increase safety and accessibility for pedestrians and motorists along these corridors.

On August 13, 2020, the City of Dallas issued a Request for Qualifications BYZ20-00013683 for transportation engineeri...
