BACKGROUND
The proposed resolution reflects the recommendation of the Ad Hoc Committee on Administrative Affairs to amend the City Council Rules of Procedure to codify the election process for the mayor pro tem and deputy mayor pro tem. The amendment provides that the election shall be conducted by ballot at a regular or special-called meeting of the city council and that the mayor pro tem and deputy mayor pro tem are elected to one-year terms.
PRIOR ACTION/REVIEW (COUNCIL, BOARDS, COMMISSIONS)
The Ad Hoc Committee on Administrative Affairs was briefed on the proposed amendment on May 22, 2023.
