BACKGROUND

This action does not encumber funds; the purpose of a master agreement is to establish firm pricing for goods, for a specific term, which are ordered on an as needed basis according to annual budgetary appropriations. The estimated amount is intended as guidance rather than a cap on spending under the agreement, so that actual need combined with the amount budgeted will determine the amount spent under this agreement.

This master agreement will provide for swimming pool, fountain and disinfecting chemicals, and supplies for the Park & Recreation Department. Swimming pool chemicals are applied by licensed staff during scheduled cycles or as required to stabilize the water chemistry. The master agreement will also facilitate the purchase of maintenance and testing supplies necessary to monitor water chemistry and maintain water and facility cleanliness.

The City utilizes these chemicals to maintain areas such as:

* Fountains at Dallas Museum of Art, Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center, City Hall, and other City facilities
* Bahama Beach Waterpark
* Bachman Therapeutic Pool
* Community swimming pools
