body
BACKGROUND

The Governmental Alternative Fuel Fleet Grant Program provides incentives to owners of large fleets in Texas to replace diesel-powered vehicles with alternative fuel or hybrid vehicles. The grant was approved by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality in July of 2023. The award of $678,000.00 will partially fund the replacement cost for 28 light duty vehicles fueled by fossil fuels with electric vehicles. These funds will be used to offset the total cost of ownership of electric vehicles and aligns with the recommendations from the 2022 Fleet Electrification Study conducted by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. The vehicles will be assigned to various City departments.
