BACKGROUND

This action will authorize a construction services contract with Ark Contracting Services, LLC for the replacement and rehabilitation of approximately 13,890 feet of water and wastewater mains and transmission main valve improvements at various locations. This includes the installation of approximately 30 feet of 4-inch, 595 feet of 6-inch, 4,600 feet of 8-inch, 2,955 feet of 12-inch, 180 feet of 16-inch and 2,370 feet of 24-inch water mains, the installation of approximately 1,910 feet of 8-inch and 1,000 feet of 12-inch wastewater mains, and the rehabilitation of 250 feet of 16-inch wastewater mains.

The existing mains targeted for replacement and rehabilitation were built between 1891 and 1969. These mains are contributing to an increase in maintenance costs, as well as service interruptions. The installation of the proposed segments will improve the capacity of the water and wastewater systems and reduce maintenance costs.

The construction contract also includes air release valve improvements on the 90-inch and 84-inch White Rock North Water Transmission Main. This critical pipeline moves up to 190 million gallons of water per day to customers in North Dallas...
