BACKGROUND

The Walcrest Pump Station and Reservoir located at the northeast corner of Hillcrest Road and Walnut Hill Lane was constructed in 1954. The original facility had a pumping capacity of 85 million gallons per day (MGD) and potable water storage capacity of 20 million gallons. Due to the age of the facility, improvements are needed to address aging infrastructure as well as operational and regulatory deficiencies.

On September 22, 2015, City Council authorized a construction services contract with Webber, LLC for improvements to the Walcrest Pump Station and Reservoir. The improvements include the demolition of the existing pump station and construction of a new 85 MGD pump station. The new pump station will incorporate more efficient technology and provide greater reliability for the water distribution system. The work also includes the construction of two 10-million-gallon storage reservoirs to replace the existing 20-million-gallon reservoir. The individual reservoir cells will increase flexibility and reduce maintenance costs.

On August 23, 2017, City Council authorized Change Order No. 1 to the construction services contract for additional work identified during construction.
