BACKGROUND

The Coombs Creek Trail Extension Project is a partnership project between the City of Dallas and Dallas County to extend the existing Coombs Creek Trail to the Margaret McDermott Bridge and Trinity River Trail. The City of Dallas is the lead/implementing agency to administer the design and construction of this project.

The new alignment of the existing Coombs Creek Trail Extension Project includes a 12-foot-wide trail that extends from the existing Coombs Creek Trail, crosses Coombs Creek with a pedestrian bridge, continues along Coombs Creek levee, and then turns east to cross Beckley Avenue at a HAWK traffic signal. The trail will continue to follow Beckley Avenue by widening the existing sidewalk to the north and then connect to the Margaret McDermott Hike and Bike Bridge and Trinity River Trail.

On April 25, 2018, City Council authorized a design contract to Urban Engineers Group, Inc. by Resolution No. 18-0600, and the consultant has completed 60 percent of the design. Based on the discussions with the United States Army Corps of Engin...
