BACKGROUND

This action does not encumber funds; the purpose of a master agreement is to establish firm pricing for goods, for a specific term, which are ordered on an as needed basis according to annual budgetary appropriations. The estimated amount is intended as guidance rather than a cap on spending under the agreement, so that actual need combined with the amount budgeted will determine the amount spent under this agreement.

This master agreement will allow for the purchase of traffic signal control cabinets and ancillary equipment for the Department of Transportation. This electronic traffic signal control cabinet operates all the traffic signals at specific intersections throughout the City. This equipment is used for new installations and to replace existing equipment that has been damaged. The City has approximately 1,400 signalized intersections and plans to add approximately 90 more in the next two years. Each intersection requires a cabinet on site to contain and protect electronic controllers and equipment.
