BACKGROUND

This action does not encumber funds; the purpose of a master agreement is to establish firm pricing for goods, for a specific term, which are ordered on an as needed basis according to annual budgetary appropriations. The estimated amount is intended as guidance rather than a cap on spending under the agreement, so that actual need combined with the amount budgeted will determine the amount spent under this agreement.

This master agreement will provide for the purchase of valves, valve parts, and accessories for the Water Utilities department. The valves, valve parts, and accessories will be used to repair, and replace valves as needed, allowing the City to maintain its water system to specified standards.

The agreement will be used to purchase safety and control valves that set, release, start, and stop pressure throughout the City's piping systems. These valves will also regulate the flow of liquids, gases, and air. The Water Utilities Department maintains over 5,000 miles of water mains throughout the water distribution system and close to 4900 miles of sewer lines in the wastewater collection system.
